![]() FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE By: Michaela DiMarcantonio Hamilton ON - Despite beginning Tour Stop #2 with a half an hour rain delay at Glendale Golf and Country Club on Monday July 7, Hamilton Halton Junior Golf Tour (HHJGT) members were able to successfully complete their rounds. Although the rain held off for the remainder of the round, the strong winds proved to be a challenge. Zac Moore of Brantford Golf and Country Club responded to the challenging conditions by posting a 2-over par round of 74 to win Tour Stop #2 in the Junior Division. He finished one shot ahead of four players with rounds of 75. Trevor Corner, John Majerovich, Andrew Pearson, and the 2013 Junior Division winner, Gregg Goddard all finished tied for second. In the Bantam Division, Marcus Khaw of Piper’s Heath earned his third straight victory on the HHJGT by finishing with a 7-over par round of 79. Khaw’s earlier victories include low qualifier and Tour Stop #1 winner. Khaw finished 3 strokes ahead of his playing competitor Garnet Delsey in second place.
The 2013 Girls Champion, Alyssa DiMarcantonio of Station Creek Golf Club had another strong showing earning her second victory of the 2014 season. She shot an 11-over par round of 83. She finished four strokes ahead of second place finisher Elanna Lachaine-DeMarchi. About HHJGT: The Hamilton/Halton Junior Golf Tour was established in 1984 with the primary goal to create a junior golf championship for the Hamilton/Halton regions, while providing a forum in which junior players, aged 18 and under, could enhance their considerable talents through competition with their peers. The Tour was the first of its kind in Ontario and remains one of the most affordable junior tours in the province. The Tour provides opportunities for players to make new friends and learn valuable life lessons. Past Champions and Tour players have used their Tour experience to obtain educational and golf scholarships throughout the U.S. and Canada to further pursue their education and golfing careers.
