![]() FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE By: Michaela DiMarcantonio Milton, ON- Tuesday July 22 the Hamilton Halton Junior Golf Tour (HHJGT) continued its 2014 season at Clublink’s Rattlesnake Point Golf Club on the Sidewinder Course for Tour Stop #3. While the weather was hot, the winners’ putters were even hotter. Coming off a top 20 finish at the GAO Investors Group Ontario Junior Boys' Championship last week, Nick Hofland shot the only under par round of the day with an impressive 4-under par round of 68. Hofland claimed the win in the Junior Division for Tour Stop #3... ![]() Hofland spoke about his round saying, “ I played really well today. I had a bogey free round with 4 birdies, 14 pars. I just made almost everything I looked at. I didn’t hit it that great but it worked out because my putter was hot.” Hofland continues his season at Golf Canada’s Canadian Junior Boys Championship next week. He shared, “I’m hoping to make the cut there and possibly finish in the top 25 or 30.” In the Bantam Division a four-hole sudden death playoff was required to determine a winner for Tour Stop #3. Patrick Maloney and Justin Knebel both posted 2-over par rounds of 74. Off the first tee on the Sidewinder Course for the playoffs, Knebel found the fescue on the left, while Maloney found the fairway. Both missed the green on their second shot but made an up and down to save par. They would continue to both make par on the second and third holes, until on the fourth hole Maloney drained a putt for birdie and the win. Maloney was excited to have earned his first HHJGT victory at his home course. He spoke about his round of 74, saying I played good. I had 5 birdies.” He took the momentum of his 1-under par back nine into the playoff. “I was nervous, and I just wanted to make a putt,” said Maloney reflecting on his playoff victory. In the Girls Division, Elanna Lachaine-DeMarchi shot a 3-over par round of 75 to win Tour Stop #3. Lachaine-DeMarchi reflected on her work ethic and mental game coming into Tour Stop #3. She said, “It’s a funny thing, the more I practice the luckier I get. Your game between your ears can greatly effect how you play and I feel my mental game was a big thing that helped me put out the best score I could. The course was in great condition and I look forward to playing it again.” The HHJGT will return to Rattlesnake Point Golf Club for Tour Stop #6 to play the Copperhead Course. Until then the HHJGT members will be playing next Thursday July 31 at Heron Point Golf Club for Tour Stop #4. For the full leaderboard from Tour Stop #3 click HERE.
