![]() FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE By: Michaela DiMarcantonio Acton ON - The first tour stop on the Hamilton Halton Junior Golf Tour (HHJGT) was held yesterday, July 2 at Clublink’s Blue Springs Golf Course. The sun was shining for the greater part of the day, but the winds were strong. Late in the day inclement weather caused the Girls Division tournament to be shortened to 13 holes. The Junior and Bantam Division golfers were able to complete their rounds. The low score for the day came from Ryan Murphy of Beverly Golf and Country Club. He fired a 3 over par round of 75 to edge out defending 2013 HHJGT Junior Champion Gregg Goddard by 3 strokes... Content with his round, Murphy commented on his performance saying, “I played good, shot 75, it was tough though, very windy and the greens were very hard.”
The conditions proved to be difficult for the field as Murphy and Goddard had the only rounds in the 70s for the Junior Division. Murphy hopes to finish in the top 10 on the tour this year, in addition to securing an exemption for the 2015 HHJGT season. In the Bantam Division, Marcus Khaw of Piper’s Heath Golf Club shot an impressive round of 76. Khaw was also received low qualifier honors for the Bantam Division in June. Khaw was confident with his approach shots. He said “I played pretty well, I hit most of the greens, just my putting struggled.” The 2013 HHJGT Girls Champion, Alyssa DiMarcantonio earned her first win of the 2014 season with a 13 hole score of 61 to capture the title for the Girls Division. DiMarcantonio spoke about her game, saying “I played ok, I had a little bit of trouble on the front 9, but then I tried my best on the back nine, unfortunately it started raining.” She has big goals for the season that include doing well on the tour again, having fun and improving on her short game. The Hamilton Halton Junior Tour will continue its season with Tour Stop #2 at Glendale Golf and Country Club in Hamilton on Monday July 7. For full results from Tour stop #1 see the leaderboard HERE.
