Hamilton, ON – Gregg Goddard was awarded his second HHJGT Junior Champion title at the Hamilton Halton Junior Golf Tour banquet on August 21 at Glendale Golf and Country Club.

Gregg Goddard ended the season with a total of 1465 points to be named the HHJGT Junior Champion. He finished ahead of Zac Moore with 1245.33 points.

Highlights of Gregg Goddard’s 2014 season on the HHJGT include 2 wins, and 2 runner-up finishes in 7 events.

“It means the world to me to win this tour, all the work I’ve put in, it really paid off” said Goddard.

Goddard’s most impressive performance of the season came at Rattle Snake Point Golf Club’s Copperhead course where he shot a 6-under par round of 66. He finished one shot ahead of Callum Biehn for the tour stop win.

On route to his round of 66, Goddard made a total of 8 birdies that contributed to his 2014 Birdie Leader title. Daniel Knapp was named the 2014 Par Leader with a total of 75 pars.

Goddard has also been named captain of one of the two HHJGT teams set to compete at the Ontario Junior Team Championship. This event will take place at Goddard’s home club of Hidden Lake from August 25 to 26.

Following the event, Goddard will graduate from the HHJGT as a back-to-back Junior Champion to pursue his education and golf endeavors at Guelph University.

Also graduating from the HHJGT is the 2014 scholarship recipient, John Majerovich. He will be attending McMaster University to study within the Faculty of Engineering.

While many players celebrated their final season on the HHJGT, the rookies celebrated their first. The Todd Shannon Memorial Rookie Award was presented to Scott Niewland.

In the Bantam Division, Garnet Delsey was named the 2014 HHJGT Bantam Champion with a total 1632.50 points ahead of runner-up Matthew Flood and third place Marcus Khaw.

“It means a lot to win, I’ve been practicing a lot on the range, all the hard work and time I’ve put in paid off,” said Delsey.

The practice certainly paid off as Garnet Delsey had a consistent season. In the 7 events, he won 1 event, had 3 runner-up finishes and finished in third place twice.

Garnet Delsey along with teammate Matthew Flood will also represent the HHJGT at the Ontario Junior Team Championship.

In the Girls Division, Elanna Lachaine-DeMarchi was named the 2014 HHJGT Girls Champion. She earned a total of 1812.50 finishing ahead of 2013 Girls Champion Alyssa DiMarcantonio at 1750 points.
