Champion Nic Ross
Thursday August 16th saw the 2nd Annual Pro/Junior Golf Classic played at Southern Pines G&CC in Mt. Hope. It was a beautiful day and the field was near full with top professional and junior golfers from the Hamilton/Halton area. In the end it was a junior that out played the entire field and took home most of the hardware. Nic Ross accumulated an amazing 49 points and his round featured 5 birdies and an eagle. Ross and professional partner Stephen Marshall (Golf Town Hamilton) combined for 84 points and captured the Paul Jamieson Memorial Trophy as Team Champions. Finishing in second place for the juniors was Chad Watts-Denyes with 40 points and Robert Wilkinson tallied 38 points to finish in third. In the Professional Division, former junior tour player Matt Robinson (Heron Point) and Fraser McIntyre (Trafalgar G&CC) shared the win with 43 points. The Pro/Junior Golf Classic uses a unique quota point scoring format and Nic Ross' gross score for the day was 56 which was 5 under par on the challenging executive length par 61 Southern Pines layout.

Well, we did it again, another Tour Team Championship. Our Team of Craig Stefureak, Nic Ross, Daniel Knapp and Callum Biehn, won in a big fashion, we beat the 2nd place team by 13 strokes, and Nic Ross once again won the low individual junior boys award.
The 2012 Golden Horseshoe Cup was held on Sunday, September 23rd at Hamilton Golf and Country Club. Our team this year was made up of Victoria Mazzarolo, Kathleen McBarron, Aidan Gavey, Thomas Giroux, Craig Stefureak, Nic Ross, Daniel Knapp, Callum Biehn, Scott Nelson, John Majerovich, Chad Watts-Denyes, and Brandon Freeman. This year’s results were a “first” for both tours, as we ended in a tie with 18 points each. However, we retained the prestigious Golden Horseshoe Cup as, like the Ryder Cup event, there needs to be a clear point advantage to take the Cup from the previous year’s winner. Thanks to all the palyers, volunteers, parents, and hosting course who make this event possible.
