HHJGT TOur Blog
I became President of this wonderful Junior Tour at the start of our 2014 season and I can't begin to tell you how amazing the experience has been thus far. As a tour player from 1995-1998 and now in my current position, I feel it's a duty of mine to ensure the HHJGT sustains the vision it was built upon and continue to grow for years to come. We enabled some great features over the past two seasons and has now become the foundation to keep our Tour relevant in an ever changing world of technology and trends.
On January 13, 2014 the Hamilton Halton Junior Golf Tour Board of Directors met and discussed some hot topics and potential changes for the 2014 season. A couple of the Agenda items were as follows:
Please find below details on each item and do not be afraid to leave any comments, questions, or concerns. We will review all comments and ideas that are put in front of us...
A recent Freedom 55 Financial promotional video shows Web.com Tour Player and former Hamilton Halton Junior Golf Tour Player Mackenzie Hughes explaining his freedom and love for playing the game of golf.
It's a continuing presence we cannot ignore. Every junior golfer has a dream and we just need to assist in giving them the best opportunity possible with the tools we have to offer.
The Hamilton Halton Junior Golf Tour would like to inform all junior members and Tour friends of a great opportunity during the upcoming March Break in 2014.
The 2014 Orlando March Break Training Camp and FCWT Event is an all inclusive venture with Top Notch coaching, golf, and accommodations at the 5 star Marriott Grande Vista Golf Club. Former GAO Head Coach Jon Roy and 1999 HHJGT Junior Champion Pat O'Neill will be conducting the trip and are highly regarded in the Ontario coaching scene. The Training Camp will take place March 9-17 and is a great way to get a fresh start heading into a long season.
At the end of the week, participants will compete in an age appropriate FCWT event at Stonegate Golf Club in Kissimmee Florida....
2014 is shaping up to be a great new year for the HHJGT. On December 2, 2013 the Board of Directors met for the Annual AGM and first Board meeting of the 2014 season.
It looked as though our meeting was heading towards a quick adjournment until the agenda topic on Tour Discipline policies was put forth.
It was brought to Board attention that players have been getting laid back and not treating facilities, officials, and other players with respect and also not upholding the traditions of the Tour. Many situations that were observed and expressed to Board members by players made the topic get some traction.
I am not going into particulars, but the situations mentioned left us in the position to become more aware and re-visit our tour discipline policies....
